ROCHESTER, Mich.— The Northern Michigan University Women's Track and Field continued their outdoor season this weekend, as they competed downstate at the Golden Grizzlies Invite hosted by Oakland University for a two-day event.
Competing against more than two dozen schools including several Division I programs, the Wildcats saw several successful finishes at the Golden Grizzly Invite.
Izabelle Peterson obtained the best result of the weekend for the Wildcats, running the 200m dash in a time of 25.90 for a third place podium finish.
In the 400m hurdles,
Sydney Romps earned fourth place with a time of 1:06.65 and
Ahna Larson took sixth, finishing at 1:09.23.
In the 3,000m steeplechase,
Lily Majestic took fourth with a time of 13:04.29 while
Ithaca Bergholtz followed right behind for fifth, clocking in at 13:09.37.
Calli Rechsteiner finished with a fifth place finish in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.66m.
In the heptathlon, freshman
Crystal Walker claimed fourth, accumulating 3,982 points. Walker finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.74, third in the 200m dash with a 27.18 time, fourth in the high jump at 1.45m, fourth in the long jump at 4.99m, and fourth in the javelin with a distance of 25.05m.
Nina Augsten took sixth with a point total of 3,685, recording a second place finish in the shot put, covering 10.32m and a fifth place result in the 800m with a time of 2:51.76.
A ninth place overall finish came in the triple jump from
Ahna Larson, reaching 9.94m.
Emme Burrough also earned ninth in the 400m dash, finishing with a time of 1:03.73 to lead Northern while
Jovana Vukas took second for NMU in the race. Doubling the distance to the 800m race,
Morgan Lyon led NMU runners with a time of 2:28.58.
In the long-distance 5,000m race,
Emily Sterling (18:49.83) and
Meghan Langworthy (18:55.41) finished 13th and 14th to lead the 'Cats.
Skylar Grubb led the Green and Gold in the 1,500m with a time of 5:18.43.
Back in the field,
Madison Campbell led NMU in the javelin (24.80m), the shot put (10.20m), and the discus (29.50m).
