Saginaw, Mich. - The Northern Michigan Track and Field team traveled back downstate for another Saginaw Valley State University hosted event, participating in the W-C-W Tri-Meet at the SVSU Athletic Complex on Saturday (Feb. 5). The event included hosts Saginaw Valley State, Northern Michigan, and Wayne State.
NMU saw a pair of school records set on the afternoon. In the 300m races,
Izabelle Peterson set a school record with a time of 40.54, taking home second place. Teammate
Akirah Venerable followed right behind with a time of 41.39.
Sydney Romps finished just outside the top-3 with a 42.35 mark.
The other NMU record came from the team of
Izabelle Peterson,
Hannah Jones,
Akirah Venerable, and
Sydney Romps who claimed second in the 4 x 300m finals with a time of 2:46.25.
Hannah Jones earned a first place finish in the 400m finals, clocking a time of 58.53. It was her best showing in the 400m this season.
In the 60m hurdles, the Wildcats got another gold medal finish from
Crystal Walker with a time of 8.82. Teammate Ellyse Wolrath followed right behind at 8.93 for a second place finish.
Crystal Walker also placed second in the high jump, reaching a 1.46m distance.
In the pole vault, another second place finish came from
Calli Rechsteiner, who recorded a 3.36m mark.
Leah Root took home second in the triple jump, marking 10.5m.
In the shot put, a third place finish came from Maddie Campbell, who marked 11.62m.

The team will travel to Allendale, Michigan for the GVSU Big Meet, a two-day event hosted by Grand Valley State University spanning February 11-12th.
