Allendale, Mich. - The Northern Michigan Track and Field team traveled back downstate for a Grand Valley State hosted event, taking part in the GVSU Big Meet on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 11-12).

With over 1,000 competitors each day and over 150 teams present at the weekend event, the Big Meet is the biggest meet of the season. NMU held their own, showcasing several noteworthy performances on the weekend.
Izabelle Peterson had another great weekend running for the 'Cats. In the 60m finals, Peterson posted a second place finish with a time of 7.72. In the 200m finals, Peterson again claimed second, crossing the finish line at 25.25.
Teammate Maria De Mingo Domenech also had a strong 200m race, finishing in 12th with a 26.29 time.
Crystal Walker recorded another silver medal finish for NMU. In the 60m hurdles, Walker finished at 8.87. In the long jump, Walker again had a strong finish, coming in at 13th with a 5.08m mark.

Akirah Venerable finished not far behind in the long jump, marking 5.00m for a 15th place finish.
In the 4x400m relay races, the NMU team of
Hannah Jones,
Ahna Larson,
Sydney Romps, and
Morgan Lyon claimed fourth with a time of 4:04.19.
Maddie Campbell recorded another top-10 finish, coming in 8th in the high jump, reaching a height of 1.48m.
In the pole vault, Calli Reichsteiner reached 3.41m for a 12th place finish.

The team will have a week off to prepare for the GLIAC Indoor Championships, taking place downstate on Feb. 26 and 27.
