Box Score MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Northern Michigan women's soccer team shut out Saginaw Valley State, 2-0, Friday afternoon at the NMU Soccer Field in front of 143 fans.
Paula Hafner led the Wildcats on offense. Hafner was able to find the back of the net off of a corner kick in the sixth minute of play. Hafner continued to create problems for the Cardinals when she sprung free on the Cardinals defense in the 71st minute and was able to claim her second goal of the contest.
Northern Michigan held the edge in both shots, 10-8, and corner kicks, 4-1. Alexandra Simmons continued her solid play in the net for the Wildcats, posting four saves.
With the win, Northern Michigan moves to 6-8 (6-4 GLIAC) on the season. The Wildcats will return to the field Sunday to take on Northwood at noon.
