PREVIEW: GLIAC Tournament begins Tuesday for women's soccer

Wildcats enter as the #6 seed for the 2026 GLIAC Tournament, will face #3 Saginaw Valley in quarterfinal match

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The field is set, and the first round of the 2026 women's soccer GLIAC Tournament begins this week.

After a regular season finale road trip to Davenport and Grand Valley, the #6 Wildcats (8-5-5, 5-5-4 GLIAC, 6th - 19 pts) now turn its attention back to the Lower Peninsula, heading to University Center, Michigan, to open the conference tournament.

The #3 Cardinals (10-6-2, 8-4-2 GLIAC, 3rd - 26 pts) enter the weekend on a three-game unbeaten streak, earning a draw to the #1 Wayne State Warriors before defeating Purdue Northwest and Roosevelt in the final weekend of the regular season.

The Wildcats and Cardinals will meet at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 3, at 1 p.m. ET at the Robert C. Braddock Field in University Center, Michigan, on the campus of Saginaw Valley. Fans can live stream the action on FloCollege and find continued coverage at both nmuwildcats.com and the official NMU women's soccer social media channels.

The 'Cats went 1-1 against the Cardinals in 2026, losing at home and winning on the road. Jaidyn Veldhouse and Emma Bradley scored in the 2-0 victory for the Cardinals in Marquette on September 13, 2026. Addison Frantti delivered a hat-trick at Robert C. Braddock Field in the 4-1 Wildcat win on September 27, 2026. The Wildcats are 1-2-1 against the Cardinals in the Erin Egolf era.

The Wildcats won its quarterfinal match last season, as head coach Egolf earned her first postseason win with the 'Cats in a 2-0 win over #4 Ferris State at Bulldog Soccer Field in Big Rapids. Should the Wildcats defeat the Cardinals on Tuesday, the Green and Gold will play the winner of #2 Grand Valley and #7 Purdue Northwest. The Wildcats lost to the GLIAC regular season champions and eventual GLIAC Tournament winner, #1 GVSU, in the semifinals last season.

The Warriors were named regular season champions and earned the #1 seed in the program's inaugural season, and will host the final four should they defeat the Ferris State Bulldogs in its quarterfinal match. The GLIAC Tournament schedule can be found here.
