Box Score MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University soccer team hosted its second game of the weekend on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 15) from the NMU Soccer Field. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to Bemidji State University. NMU is now 0-5 on the season.
The first Beaver goal came at 12:12 on shot from Jessie Voeller to Mary O'Brien for the score. Abigail Nyquist had goal number two at 29:45 and at 41:58 Bayly Ertl scored the final goal for BSU, the second two tallies were unassisted.
The lone Northern goal came at 74:48 on a shot by freshman Carmen Villarruel for her first goal as a Wildcat. Freshman Paula Hafner tallied the assist after passing the ball to Villarruel off of a corner kick.
NMU finished with 12 shots, nine on goal to the Beavers nine shots and six on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Simmons started her first game and had three saves.
The Wildcats open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next Sunday (Sept. 22) as Lake Erie College visits Marquette.
