Lauren Esposito and Josie Lakosky honored as GLIAC Players of the Week

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Both junior attacker Josie Lakosky and junior goalkeeper Lauren Esposito are being honored as the GLIAC Attacker and Defender of the Week, announced by the conference today.

Lakosky continues to add to her record-breaking campaign, leading the Wildcat attack with five goals and a season-high four assists for nine points, the eighth time this season she has recorded nine or more points. Lakosky now has 96 goals and 36 assists for 132 points on the campaign, and needs one more assist to become the program record holder in every single-season record in NMU lacrosse history. Should Lakosky get four more goals and assists during the GLIAC postseason, she will also become the first Wildcat to reach both the 100 and 40 assist plateaus in a single season. This is Lakosky's fifth conference weekly honor of the season.

Esposito continued her strong season with one of her best outings in a Green and Gold jersey, matching her career-best 13 saves and a .650 SV% to go with five ground balls in the 15-7 win over Concordia-St. Paul. The only other time Esposito has made 13 saves in a single game also came against the Golden Bears, aiding the 'Cats to a 9-7 win in the GLIAC Semifinals last season, where she also posted a .650 SV%. The junior, who set the NMU career wins and career games-started mark earlier this season, has now recorded 330 saves in 50 games played in her career, both of which match the career records set by Cam Stilson. This marks Esposito's first GLIAC weekly honor of the season.
