PREVIEW: Regular Season Finale On Tap for Lacrosse

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The regular season for the NMU lacrosse team will come to a close against the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

After a unique road trip that saw games on Sunday and Tuesday, the Wildcats (11-5, 5-2 GLIAC) round out the regular season with a preview of the first round of the GLIAC Tournament, traveling to St. Paul, Minnesota, to face the Golden Bears (6-9, 3-4 GLIAC) on Saturday.

The match will take place on April 25, at 1 p.m. ET from the Concordia Dome. Fans can tune into the live stream at Flo Live, and follow along with live stats through nmuwildcats.com

The 'Cats are 12-8 against the 'Bears, and are 12-2 dating back to 2021. In that same stretch, NMU is 3-1 against CSP in St. Paul; the Golden Bears defended its home turf with a 13-9 win over the Wildcats last season.

NMU took game one of the regular season home-and-home meetings, defending the Superior Dome with a 16-7 win on April 4, 2026. Josie Lakosky led the way, scoring eight goals and 11 points to go with 10 draw controls, three caused turnovers, and three ground balls.

Lakosky is now the record holder for every Wildcat single-season record, except for assists, which is still held by Minnie Bittell (2024, 36). Lakosky is within striking distance, as she is only four away from matching. Lakosky also recently surpassed the 200 career goal mark, becoming the second Wildcat to surpass 200 career goals at NMU, and is nine away from hitting 100 goals for the season, a single-season milestone that only nine other student-athletes in the DII lacrosse landscape have achieved since the 2001-02 season.

The Golden Bears are rebounding after a mid-season stretch that saw them go 1-5 in six games, winning against Davenport (17-12) and Saginaw Valley (19-5) the past two weekends. CSP is 4-3 at home this season, and is 2-1 in its past three in St. Paul.

Senior defender Natalie Brownfield earned her first career GLIAC POTW honor last week, thanks to a career-best seven ground balls against Saginaw Valley to go with a pair of caused turnovers.

After this weekend, the 'Cats will face the Golden Bears in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, all of them taking place on the campus of Grand Valley. NMU has emerged victorious in the three previous meetings, outscoring CSP 39-24 in those contests.
