LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Northern Michigan Track & Field team competed at the Ashton May Invitational in Wisconsin on Saturday, taking fourth place out of nine competing schools with senior
Ellyse Wolfrath setting a new school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.82.
Northern received wins from Wolfrath in the 100m hurdles,
Skylar Grubb in the 5000, and
Beverly Harper in the 800. The 'Cats also had five other top-three finishes on the day.
The Wildcats collected 96 team points, just falling short of UW-Eau Claire's 96.5 for a top-three finish. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 120 points with Milwaukee finishing as runner-up at 100.
On the Track
Ellyse Wolfrath won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.06. She ran a time of 13.82 in the preliminaries, a mark that not only set a new school record, but is an NCAA provisional mark that is currently tied for the 6th fastest finish across the nation.
Crystal Walker placed 3rd in the event at 14.39.

In the 5000m, senior
Skylar Grubb set a personal record and bested the competition with a time of 17:41.84.
Sophia Potter wasn't far back at 18:35.61 to claim third.
The 'Cats got another victory from
Beverly Harper in the 800m. She finished at 2:19.67.
Lana Mac earned a 5th place finish in a time of 2:24.32 and
Ella DeBruyn was 8th, crossing at 2:27.11.
The 4x100 relay team consisting of
Ellyse Wolfrath,
Ciara Ostrenga,
Ahna Larson, and
Kanya Campbell crossed the finish line at 48.92 for 2nd place.
Larson would go on to grab an individual 2nd place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing at 1:02.56.
A trio of Wildcats ran in the 3000m steeplechase.
Dani Van Lente was 4th finishing at 11:32.21 while
Emma Sweeney took 6th in a time of 11:36.67 and
Anya VanSweden was right behind at 11:37.16 for 7th.
Running a 59.43,
Ciara Ostrenga finished in 7th in the 400m.
In the Field
Crystal Walker placed second in the long jump, reaching a distance of 5.81m.
Wilme Els collected a 5th place finish to her credit in the javelin, throwing a distance of 36.94m.
In the triple jump,
Sofi Diop placed 6th at a distance of 11.02m. Another 6th place finish came from Katilin Smith in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.66m. Throwing 12.03m,
Teiolla Harvey earned 6th place herself in the shot put.

The Wildcats will return to the Badger State next weekend, taking part in the Titan Invitational hosted by UW-Oshkosh from April 10-12.
