PREVIEW: Wildcats Play Pride in Regualar Season Finale

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Northern Michigan University hits the road to square off against Purdue Northwest in its final regular-season matchup before entering the postseason.

The Wildcats (5-7-5, 5-6-2 GLIAC) enter the regular season finale coming off back-to-back victories at home against Roosevelt and Parkside over senior weekend. The first game against Roosevelt came on Halloween, and ended in a 5-1 victory. The following game was very tight, but the 'Cats were able to win against Parkside in a 1-0 result.

The Pride ( 5-9-2, 3-9 GLIAC) are coming into this matchup against NMU on a four-game losing streak, with the team's most recent losses coming at the hands of Saginaw Valley State and #5 Grand Valley State.

This is a crucial weekend for both teams as the regular season comes to a close. The Wildcats, who have clinched a berth into the GLIAC postseason, can solidify the 5th seed in the GLIAC postseason with a win. The Pride, however, is fighting for its spot in the postseason. The trio of Roosevelt (3-8-1, 10 pts), Purdue Northwest (3-9-0, 9 pts), and Michigan Tech (2-10-1, 7 pts) are all fighting for the final spots, making this weekend critical to earn points.

Last Time Out
During the Halloween matchup, the Wildcats came out flying with two goals before the end of the first half, with the first goal coming less than 5 minutes into the game from Alyse Daavettilla. Northern kept scoring with four more, while only allowing Roosevelt to get a single goal in.

With the temperature at 36 degrees, the teams were not only fighting against each other, but the UP weather as well, with winds whipping to upwards of 40 mph gusts. The only goal of the game came from senior Kenna Alexander, where she was able to strike the ball well after it bounced around in the box to get past Parkside's goalie.
