PREVIEW: Wrestling hosts UW-Oshkosh in Vandament Arena

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan women's wrestling team returns to the mat this weekend to host duals against UW-Oshkosh. The excitement is building as the Wildcats will make their debut inside Vandament Arena on Sunday, February 2 at 2 p.m.

A free to attend event, fans are encouraged to come cheer on the 'Cats in their Vandament debut! For those that can't make it, the duals will be live streamed on FloWrestling.

Last Time Out
Northern had a stellar performance at the Alma College Open on January 19, earning four 1st place finishes and four more runner-up finishes. 

Yu Sakamoto and Sara Schroder each recorded a pair of tech fall wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals, facing off in the championship tilt against each other in the 117 weight class. Sakamoto finished on top, with Schroder finishing as runner-up.

Zhivanna Magdaleno earned a runner-up finish in the 124 weight class, while Alissa Caltagirone took 1st at 145.

In the 160 weight class, Sophia Bassino claimed 3rd place and Ruby Joseph added a victory to her credit.

At 180, Clarissa Wangen earned a decisive win and Mickaela Keane finished in 2nd place.

The Wildcats found plenty of success at 207, with Kailyn Garrett taking 1st, Ozioma Ogu taking 2nd and Teni Ajayi taking 4th.
