DE PERE, Wis. - In the final tune-up ahead of the GLIAC Championships this coming week, the Northern Michigan track & field team collected six wins, 13 podium finishes, and 11 personal records at the St. Norbert Invite in Wisconsin.
The standout event of the day for NMU was the 400m, where the podium was swept with Green and Gold. Taking first was
Beverly Harper, sneaking under a minute at 59.83. Following Harper was
Ciara Ostrenga at 1:00.07 for second and
Emme Burrough at 1:00.93 for third.
Lana Mac rounded out the top five with a time of 1:02.05.
Three 'Cats placed in the top five in the 100m hurdles, with
Ellyse Wolfrath leading the way in first with a time of 14.09. Eva Zona took third and
Natasha Nowakowski finished in 5th in the event while also collecting a 4th place finish in the javelin and 6th place finish in the long jump.
Leah Root had the lone field victory for NMU by hitting a PR of 3.71m in the pole vault.
Talon Prusi collected her first career victory in the 5000m, crossing the finish line at 19:33.59.
Baux Truckey continued her impressive freshman campaign with a win in the 200m at 24.61.
Another victory for Northern came in the 4x100m relay. The team consisted of Wolfrath,
Jahtivya Williams,
Ahna Larson, and Truckey, with a winning time of 47.78.
Isabella Beck finished as the runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase at 12:56.70 and
Elliott Smith was right behind at 12:57.61 for 3rd.
Ameila Kashian also had a second-place finish, with hers coming in the 800m. She ran a time of 2:30.62.
In the 1500m,
Emma Sweeney's 5:04.12 was good enough for 3rd place while
Petra Foote followed with 5:10.78 for 4th.
Natalie Pisoke finished in 5th place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.99.
