UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Northern Michigan track & field team completed the first of two days at the Jet's Pizza Invite, collecting one win and another second-place finish.
In the 4000m DMR, the group of
Ashley Choponis,
Beverly Harper,
Ella DeBruyn, and
Madi Szymanski claimed first place in a time of 11:59.64, edging Division I Oakland by over four seconds.
The Wildcats had three runners in the top ten of the 5000m.
Sophia Potter finished in second at 17:50.34, while Dani VanLente (18:11.35) placed sixth and
Anya VanSweden (18:22.62) was eighth.
In the pole vault, Kati Smith and
Alayna Vandegriff reached 3.32m, finishing in a six-way tie for fourth place.
Crystal Walker also earned a fourth place finish in the long jump, reaching a distance of 5.26m.
Teiolla Harbey placed sixth in the weight throw at 16.27m, while
Danielle Lund was 10th with a distance of 15.02m.
Walker also qualified for tomorrow's 60m hurdle final with a time of 9.05.
Baux Truckey moved through to the 200m final, crossing the finish at 25.36.
