MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Wildcats women's soccer team will square off against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals for the GLIAC Championship.
The GLIAC Tournament Championship will be held
Sunday, November 17, at 1 p.m. at the NMU soccer field. The event is

After defeating Davenport 4-1 on Friday, the #1 seeded Wildcats punched its ticket to the championship for the third consecutive season.

Brooke Pietila, and
Sami Brown all scored for the Wildcats. NMU now has a chance to become back-to-back regular season and post-season GLIAC Champions.
It took until penalties, but the #3 seeded Saginaw Valley State Cardinals advanced after winning 3-2 in a shootout against the #2 seeded Grand Valley State Lakers. Stephanie Strong scored the team's goal in regular time. Goalkeeper Lainey Garbarz made 14 saves and two penalty kicks, including one in extra time, before making three more stops in the penalty shootout.
The 'Cats split the season series with the Cardinals, winning 3-1 at home and then drawing 1-1 on the road. This marks just the second time these two teams have met in the postseason and the first meeting in the conference championship, with the only meeting coming as a 1-0 win for the Wildcats on the campus of GVSU in 2022.
