ALLENDALE, Mich.- The Wildcats swim and dive team suffered an early season loss against Grand Valley State on Saturday.
Final Scores
Overall, the Wildcats hit a downfall against both teams with a score of 326-160 against the Lakers.
The Men came out of the meet with a 91 point deficit, finalizing the score at 167-76.
The Women Wildcats were in the same boat, ending the meet with a score of 159-84.
Highlights
The 400-yard Medley Relay kicked off the meet with
Camilla Carbone,
Zoe DeKievit, Txell Font-Cantarero, and
Alyssa Bloser bringing home a second place with a time of 3:55.34. The Men were able to take second with a time of 3:27.47. The team included
Thibault Auger,
Wyatt Dickman,
Ryan Lund, and
William LaCount.
Events three and four marked the 1000-yard Freestyle, which had freshmen
Anika Wright and
Annika Geyer taking the reins with their first and fourth place finishes. Javier Pena-Reyes and
Logan Robillard took home fourth and fifth places for the Men.
With the 200-yard Freestyle following, freshman
Carlotta Santi was able to take home third with a time of 1:56.72. Close behind in fifth place finishers was
Donna Hannig with her own time of 2:02.60.
Caleb Rice was able to make it into the top five for the 'Cats at 1:48.33.
Becca Burrows and Bloser made up four and fifth places in the 50-yard Freestyle, falling in between the times of 25.00 and 25.30.
Leo Nolles took first place for the men's team, while
William LaCount found himself in fifth.
The 200-yard IM saw Wright and DeKievit claiming first and fifth place with times of 2:09.15 and 2:11.42. Fulconi managed to be the only Wildcat in the top five, placing first, with his time of 1:54.32.
The first dive of the meet was the 1-meter Dive which had
Abbie Harned falling into fourth place and accumulating 387.29 points. As for the Men's side,
Tobie Stiles stood at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 463.27.
Switching over to the 200-yard Butterfly, Font-Cantarero and
Sophia Moore placed in the top five, at first and fifth. The Men, on the other hand, had
Hudson Lowery taking third and Pena-Reyes claiming fourth, with times of 1:55.85 and 1:59.66.
The 100-yard Freestyle saw Haerr bring in fourth and Burrows in fifth. Nolles was placed near the top of the board with a time of 47.04.
Carbone earned third place and Strazny took fifth in the 200-yard Backstroke while Auger, Rocheleau, and Kapocius found themselves in second, fourth, and fifth with respective times of 1:54.81, 1:55.72, and 1:57.19.
The 500-yard Freestyle saw Wright coming out on top for the third time in a row in this event. Close behind was Santi in third and Geyer finding her place in fourth. As for the Men's team, Fulconi took home third with his time of 4:45.80.
Abbie Harned returned to the diving board for the 3-Meter dive, leading her to a sixth place finish with a score of 224.55. Harned was the only Woman Wildcat to place for this event. The Men's 3-Meter Dive found Stiles taking the gold with his score of 279.15.
DeKievit swam phenomenally and earned gold in the 200-yard Breaststroke once again with a time of 2:23.41. On the other side was Dickman who placed third with a time of 2:05.61, while Nick Metzler earned fifth at 2:11.47.
Closing out the meet was the 200-yard Freestyle Relay where the Women's team earned a second place finish. Bloser, Burrows,
Joanne Arbic, and Haerr made up the team. The Men's team earned third place with Rosatelli, Pena-Reyes, Lund, and Rice making up that team.
