GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards for the 2023-24 swimming & diving season. The Northern Michigan Wildcats earned three of the four awards, as sophomore Leo Nolles and freshman Anika Wright were named GLIAC Swimmers of the Week and junior Abbie Harned received GLIAC Women's Diver of the Week. 

Leo Nolles set a pool record in the 50-yard freestyle, captured four first-place finishes, and two second-place finishes. Anika Wright swept her events, claiming gold in all four, and Abbie Harned claimed gold in three of her four dives along with a silver medal.

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Leo Nolles, Northern Michigan
Leo Nolles opened his weekend with a second-place finish in the men's 200-yard medley relay, before claiming first in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 45.65, and first in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Nolles continued his success on Saturday, claiming first and breaking a pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.49, another first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.70, finalized by a second-place finish in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay.

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Anika Wright, Northern Michigan
Anika Wright showed out for her first pair of collegiate meets, starting with first-place finishes in the 400-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle on Friday, with times of 4:32.40 and 5:10.51, respectively. Anika then backed up those performances with first-place finishes in both the 1650-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, posting times of 17:32.30 and 5:09.52, respectively.

WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Abbie Harned, Northern Michigan
Abbie Harned posted a dominant weekend, claiming first place in the 3-meter dive on back-to-back occasions, accumulating 223.45 points on Friday and 227 points on Saturday. Harned also placed first in the 1-meter dive on Friday, breaking her own personal record with a score of 386, then followed up that performance with a second place finish in the 1-meter on
Saturday with a score of 236.65.
