Box Score Kenosha, Wis. – Northern Michigan University Women's Soccer scored the first goal of the game but ended up falling to the University of Wisconsin Parkside in a nonconference matchup.

SCORING FIRST

The Wildcats found the net first to take a 1-0 lead just 20 minutes into the game. Sophomore Caroline Halonen (Hartland, Mich.) provided a pass to senior Jamie Montgomery (Gaithersburg, Md.) to give NMU a 1-0 lead at the 20:43 mark.
It was the second goal of the season for Montgomery while Halonen recorded her second assist this year.
However, the Rangers managed to score a minute later to tie the match, then were successful on a penalty kick to give the hosts a 2-1 victory.

STAT LEADERS

Halonen finished the day with five shots while Montgomery and senior Gaelin Hirabayashi (Ijamsville, Md.) both had two. As a team, NMU tallied 14 shots, outshooting the Rangers 14-13. NMU also ended up with seven corner kicks while Parkside only had one opportunity from the corner.
In goal, junior Brianna Frontuto (Luxemburg, Wis.) posted five saves.

The Wildcats now return home for more nonconference action as they host Parkside in a rematch on Friday, September 27 at 4 p.m. The team then hosts Purdue University Northwest on Sunday, September 29 at 1 p.m. Both games will be played on the NMU Soccer Field.
