Hillier, Tuggle Pace Wildcat Women's Soccer to Big Win

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan women's soccer team toppled Finlandia, 11-0, in its season opener Thursday evening at the NMU Soccer Field.

The Wildcats scored four goals in the first 25 minutes of the game, and they never looked back. By halftime, they led by a 6-0 margin.

Carleigh Hillier led the attack, registering a hat trick and tacking on an assist. Sarah Tuggle was Northern Michigan's other key point producer, contributing a goal and three helpers. 

Alaina Perry also had a multi-goal effort. Maddie Herbert tied Tuggle for the game-high with three assists.

Sophomores Hillier and Perry's goals were the first of their collegiate careers. Tuggle and Herbert were each playing in their first game as a Wildcat.

The Wildcats took 49 shots, 28 of which were on net. They did not allow a shot in 90 minutes of play.

Northern Michigan continues its weekend homestand by facing off against St. Cloud State tomorrow at 4 p.m.
