MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan men's basketball standout
Dylan Kuehl has been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team, adding another national honor to his historic season.
Kuehl was not only recognized for his production on the court, where he was named a D2CCA First Team All-American, but also for matching that honor with his work in the classroom. A graduate student in Construction Management, he carries a 3.65 GPA.
His selection places him among the nation's elite student-athletes, as Kuehl and Carson-Newman's Jack Browder are the only DII two players in the nation to be named CSC Academic All-America First Team and the D2CCA All-America First Team this season.
On the hardwood, the Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, native delivered a season for the record books. Kuehl was named the D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year, the first Wildcat to receive the honor, while also sweeping GLIAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year accolades. He averaged 21.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, shooting 55.2% from the field, and helped lead the Wildcats to a 28-7 record and a GLIAC regular season championship.
Kuehl scored a career-high 41 points on 15-20 shooting to clinch the conference title against Parkside in the regular season finale. He closed his career ranked second in program history with 2,197 points.
