MARQUETTE, Mich. – Following a 70-52 defeat to No. 22 Ferris State at home on Monday, the No. 13 Northern Michigan Wildcats will look to get back on track this weekend as they hit the road for two conference games.
Northern will first stop in Sault Ste. Marie to take on the Lake Superior State Lakers (4-10, 1-5) on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 7:30 p.m. NMU will then head to the Lower Peninsula with a stop at Saginaw Valley State (4-10, 2-4) on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m.

About the 'Cats
Northern Michigan is 13-3 overall and 4-2 in the GLIAC, currently sitting in fourth place. NMU is ranked No. 13 in the latest WBCA Poll.
The Wildcats take care of the ball as well as anyone in the country, ranking fourth at 12.3 turnovers per game and ranking 26th with a 1.06 assist/turnover ratio. Senior point guard
CJ Romero is leading the charge in taking care of the ball. Her 4.1 assists per game and 1.8 assist/turnover ratio both rank in the top three in the conference.
Offensively, Northern is knocking down triples at a rate of 36.3%, good for ninth nationally.
Jacy Weisbrod is leading the way for NMU and has been one of the most prolific perimeter scorers in the nation. She is second in the GLIAC with 16.4 points per game, while her 3.44 made three-pointers per game, and 55 total triples both rank first in Division II. She surpassed 1,000 career points in the victory against Davenport, becoming just the 29th player in program history to reach one of basketball's most coveted milestones.
Sarah Newcomer provides a secondary scoring threat, averaging 10.4 points per game while ranking fourth in the GLIAC in both made threes per game (2.1) and three-point percentage (37.8%).
A Look at Lake Superior State
At 4-10 overall, the Lakers are coming off a 57-52 victory over Roosevelt for their first conference win of the season. Chloe Watson scored 17 points while Grace Bradford had a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double.
The double-doubles have been common for Bradford, as that was her seventh of the season. She has scored in double figures in all but one game and has a 22-rebound game to her credit this season. She is 11th nationally with 11.0 rebounds per game.
A Look at Saginaw Valley State
Also coming in at 4-10, the Cardinals lost at Roosevelt and Parkside last weekend.
Megan McCalla is fifth in the conference, averaging 15.5 points per game. Lydia Meredith averages 12.8 and is third nationally with over four steals per game. Lainey Yater runs the point, averaging 3.2 assists per game with a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio.
