MARQUETTE, Mich. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) recognized four members of the Northern Michigan women's basketball team on the 2026 Academic All-District Team, honoring their excellence both in the classroom and on the court.
Seniors
Sarah Newcomer and
Alyssa Hill were joined by sophomores
Sydney Whitehouse and
Addison Pytleski as representatives of a program that continues to combine academic achievement with high-level performance.
Newcomer, a senior from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, earns her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District selection while continuing to shine as one of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's top perimeter threats. A First Team All-GLIAC selection, she averaged 11.3 points per game, ranking second on the team. She finished inside the league's top five in both three-pointers made per game (2.4) and three-point percentage (37.7%), with her 80 made triples ranking among the top 15 nationally. Newcomer posted two games with seven made three-pointers, including a career-high 27-point performance in a 74-46 win at Michigan Tech on Jan. 8. Off the court, she holds a 3.96 GPA as a Business major.
Hill, a senior from Negaunee, Michigan, also earns her second straight CSC Academic All-District honor. A cornerstone of the Wildcats' frontcourt, she led the team with 7.7 rebounds per game while adding 8.3 points per contest. Hill reached a major milestone on Jan. 8 at Michigan Tech, surpassing 1,000 career points with a perfect 7-for-7 shooting performance en route to 16 points. She later matched her season-best with 19 points in a win at Purdue Northwest on Feb. 14. Hill maintains a 3.78 GPA as an Accounting major.
Whitehouse, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was named the GLIAC Sixth Woman of the Year after providing a consistent spark off the bench in every game this season. She averaged 9.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.6 steals while shooting 43.1% from the floor. Her presence on the glass was key, ranking third on the team with 65 offensive rebounds, and she reached double figures in scoring 15 times. Whitehouse delivered a career-high 25 points in the GLIAC Quarterfinals against Michigan Tech on March 4. She carries a 3.85 GPA as a Biology major.
Pytleski, a junior from Green Bay, Wisconsin, started all 33 games and contributed across the board, averaging 7.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. She was one of the team's most reliable shooters from beyond the arc, connecting at a 38.8% clip, second-best on the team. Pytleski recorded a career-high 18 points against Grand Valley State on Jan. 3 and scored in double figures nine times throughout the season. She has a 3.72 GPA and is majoring in Biology.
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically, requiring significant contributions on the court alongside a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA.
