Casey Thousand have announced the hiring of alumna
Emily Mueller ('22) as an assistant coach with the 2025-26 season on the horizon.
For the past two years, Mueller has served as a graduate assistant coach at William Woods University (Fulton, Mo.) while pursuing her Master's degree in Athletic Administration. At William Woods, she assisted with planning, coaching, and instruction of practices, games, and individual player development. She also contributed to game strategy, preparation, and execution, including scouting opponents and analyzing game footage.
"We are thrilled to welcome Emily back to NMU," said Thousand. "Emily brings high energy, a true eagerness to learn, and valuable collegiate coaching experience that will leave a lasting mark on our program!"
Mueller earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Health and Physical Education from Northern in December of 2022. Throughout 2022, she served as an intern on the women's basketball coaching staff, along with leading the Marquette Senior High School freshmen team.
Mueller played for the Green and Gold from 2018-22 and was the team captain in each of her last two seasons. She played in 91 games throughout her career, totaling 375 points and 341 rebounds. For three years, she was also the Vice President of the NMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
