MARQUETTE, Mich. - Four members of the Northern Michigan women's basketball team have received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, announced on Tuesday. Those recognized were Alyssa Hill, Sarah Newcomer, Alyssa Nimz, and CJ Romero. 

Hill holds a perfect 4.0 GPA majoring in Accounting. This season, she started in all 32 games, averaging 7.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Hill scored a season-high 19 points on 8-9 shooting against Ferris State on February 15 and added an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double to help lead the 'Cats to a NCAA Tournament win over Hillsdale on March 14. 

Newcomer, a Business major, holds a GPA of 3.96. She also started all 32 games for the Green and Gold and was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team. She finished third on the team averaging 8.9 points per game. Newcomer also contributed 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. She finished fourth in the GLIAC with an average of 1.9 made threes per game. She scored a season-high 22 points with six triples on November 24 against St. Cloud State. 

Majoring in Public Relations, Nimz has a GPA of 3.87. She started each of the 32 games for Northern, averaging 8.3 points per game and leading the team on the glass with 6.4 rebounds per game. Nimz scored a career-high 18 points on January 13 vs. Roosevelt.

Romero holds a 3.75 GPA in Marketing. She made 21 starts while taking the court in 31 games, averaging 4.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. She tied a career-high with 10 points on November 9 vs. Lewis. 

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
