Hannah Kastamo named to D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Senior captain Hannah Kastamo has been selected as a D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team selection, as announced by the Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) on Tuesday.

Kastamo was one of 26 student athletes in the Midwest region and just one of nine student-athletes from the GLIAC selected, along with Madi Bajis from Saginaw Valley State and seven from Grand Valley State. The GLIAC was the second-best represented conference in the region, and landed the most student-athletes on the second team in the Midwest.

Kastamo earned her second all-region nod by landing on the second team as a defender. During the season, the captain started in all 20 matches, where she led the Wildcats in goals (6), assists (4), points (16), game-winning goals (3), and was among the team-leaders in minutes played (1647), shots (47), and shots on goal (16).

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences within the Midwest region selected the all-region teams. Those selected to the first team will now move onto consideration for the All-America voting.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
