Three Women's Soccer Student-Athletes earn All-GLIAC Recognition

Hannah Kastamo, Kenna Alexander, and Madison Bilbia all earn All-Conference honors

MARQUETTE, Mich. - A trio of Northern Michigan University women's soccer student-athletes have earned All-GLIAC recognition, as announced by the conference today. Hannah Kastamo, Kenna Alexander, and Madison Bilbia all eared honors.

A senior captain hailing from Hartland, Michigan, Hannah Kastamo has earned All-GLIAC First Team Defender recognition. The 2024 GLIAC Defender of the Year has played any, and seemingly every, roll for the Wildcats in 2025, as she leads the team in goals (6), assists (4), points (16), game-winning goals (3), and is second in shots (46). The All-American has started every match for the Green and Gold this season, and has logged the third-most minutes on the team at 1,557. Through three fewer games from last season, Kastamo has matched her career single-season best in goals and game-winning goals, and her 16 points is one shy of matching a career high. Kastamo has racked up the conference awards in her time, as she now owns various GLIAC awawrds, including Defensive Player of the Year, a Fall Commissioner's Award, 2x First-Team selections, an All-Tournament team nod, and All-Conference Honorable-Mention.

Another senior captain, Kenna Alexander, has earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors as a midfielder. The Bloomington, Indiana, native has ended her senior campaign on a tear, scoring five goals in five-consecutive matches, with two game-winning goals in that frame, catapulting her to match Kastamo for the team lead in goals and second on the 'Cats in points (14). Alexander has also started every match for the Wildcats, playing the full ninety minutes on seven separate occasions, and less that 70 minutes just once. Alexander is having a breakout year in 2025, setting career-bests in every major statistical category en route to earning her first All-Conference selection.

A junior from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Madison Bilbia has earned her first All-Conference selection, with a nod on the Honorable Mention team. Bilbia is second on the team in goals (3), third in assists (3), and fourth in points (9) to go along with her team-leading 55 shots and 21 shots on goal. Bilbia has been an intergenal part in the Wildcats offensive system this season, starting in all of the 'Cats 19 games thus far. Bilbia has also smashed her single-season minutes played mark, surpassing that number in six fewer games.

The Wildcats are onto the GLIAC Semifinals for the sixth consecutive season, and now have the opportunity to appear in the GLIAC Championship for the fourth straight campaign. To get there, the team has to go through host-university Grand Valley State, who hauled in GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coaching Staff of the Year, and 10 All-Conference selections.

The semifinals match is set for Friday, November 14, at 1 p.m. from the GVSU Soccer Field.
