CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Three Northern Michigan wrestlers competed at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) this weekend, with the trio combining for four victories on the mat.
Alissa Caltagirone went 2-2 in her decisions in the 143 weight class, picking up wins by fall over Alessandra Elliott (D`Youville) (Fall 5:06) and over Saniyah Ward (D`Youville) (Fall 2:39). She collected both of NMU's pins in a time of 7:45.
Marisa Angelos also competed at 143, where she picked up a win by decision over Autumn Flanigan (Augsburg University) (Dec 4-2).
Zhivanna Magdaleno was the other competing Wildcat, contesting the 123 weight class. She also garnered a win by decision, coming over Jada Fowler (Frostburg State) (Dec 8-5).
The team collected six points to finish in 28th place of 49 teams. Iowa collected 204 points for the win followed by North Central with 198 points.
