St. Cloud. Minn. - The NMU women's swim and dive team opened the regular season with a bang, dominating St. Cloud 148-90 on day one of the meet.
The 'Cats had a first-place finish in all but two events on the evening, catapulting the green and gold out to a healthy lead through event 26.

Event Breakdown
Event 1 - The 'Cats started out the meet with a bang, with the 'A' and 'B' teams finishing first and second in the 200 medley relay with times of 1:46.29 and 1:48.69, respectively. Team A consisted of
Camilla Carbone,
Zoe DeKievit,
Alyssa Bloser, and
Becca Burrows. Team B consisted of
Mia Strazny, Evelyn DeCarlo,
Elena Curti, and Vicky Burda.
Event 3 - Annika Geyer and
Anika Wright finish first and second in the 1000 freestyle with times of 10:30.80 and 10:32.88, respectively, clearing third place by a whopping 27 seconds.
Event 5 - Elena Curti finished first in the 200 freestyle with her time of 1:54.45, with her first lap of 27.14 being the fastest lap of the event.
Carlotta Santi was next in second, followed by
Ellie Kilgard in third and
Donna Hannig in fourth.
Event 7 - Becca Burrows finished first in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 24.80. Teammate Vicky Burda was right behind Burrows with her time of 24.92 to claim second, and
Alyssa Bloser was fourth with 25.11.
Event 9 - DeKievit earned her second first place finish of the evening, this time as an individual, finishing first in the 100 IM with her time of 1:01.06. Decarlo found another podium with her time of 1:01.40, and
Kenzie Stute found her first podium in third with a time of 1:01.74.
Event 11 - This posed as the first dive event on the evening for the women, with
Kalina Ceglinski claiming first in the 1 meter with a score of 241.20.
Lauren Plockmeyer found the podium in third, followed by
Madison Germain in fourth.
Event 13 - Sophia Moore introduced herself to the meet, claiming first in the 100 butterfly with her time of 57.99. Curti swam in her third event of the evening, this time claiming silver with her time of 58.33. These two were the only women to finish under one minute in the 100 butterfly.
Event 15 - The first event of the evening there wasn't a Wildcat at the top, Abby Keen swam to a second place finish in the 100 freestyle with her time of 55.35. Santi finished fourth, followed by Hannig in fifth.
Event 17 - Carbone would claim her second first place finish, this time as an individual in the 10 backstroke, beating the next closest swimmer by three seconds en route to a dominant race.
Event 19 - Geyer carried over her dominance from the 1000 freestyle into the 500 free, emphatically finishing first with her time of 5:10.25, 11 seconds faster than the next swimmer from St. Cloud.
Event 21 - Diving concluded with Ceglinski finding the top once again, this time earning 236.25 points in the 3 meter dive. Germain found a podium, claiming third with 221.95 points.
Event 23 - DeKievit posted the second fastest time in the 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:06.26, followed by five Wildcats before the next St. Cloud swimmer.
Event 25 - The 'Cats rounded out the evening with the 200 free relay, with the 'A' team posting a time of 1:39.91, and the 'B' team finishing right behind with a time of 1:41.41
