Carbone and DeKievit earn CSC Academic All-America Distinction

Camilla Carbone (2nd team) and Zoe DeKievit (3rd team) earn back-to-back CSC Academic All-America honors

AUSTIN, Texas - Camilla Carbone and Zoe DeKievit of the NMU swim and Dive team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second and Third Team, respectively, announced on Tuesday.

Nine of the 30 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women's swimming & diving teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 10 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.

Graduate student Camilla Carbone, who holds a 4.00 and is pursuing her MBA, recently earned CSC Academic All-District honors prior to her second-consecutive second-team CSC Academic All-America honor. Carbone had a memorable final season in the pool, earning consecutive CSC Academic All-America and All-District awards, a second consecutive GLIAC Commissioner's Awards, and three All-America honors that included first-team honors in the 100 backstroke and second-team honors as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams. Carbone was also a GLIAC champion this year, claiming individual gold in the 100 back along with earning a silver medal in the 400 medley relay.

Zoe DeKievit, who now earns her second-consecutive third-team honor, is a senior holding a 4.00 GPA and majoring Health and Fitness Education. This season, DeKievit adds CSC Academic All-America and All-District to her mantle, and is an All-American in the 200 and 400 medley relay, along with earning silver in the 400 medley relay at this years conference championships.
