MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University track and field team will begin its outdoor season in Normal, Illinois, competing in the Redbird Challenge on April 1, hosted by the Illinois State Redbirds.
A majority of the events will take place on Saturday, the action starting tentatively at 10 a.m. with the Discus Throw and finishing around 5:25 p.m. with the 4x400 Meter Relay. The full meet information document is available

Last Time Out
It was a third-place finish for the Northern Michigan Wildcats at the GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, tying the best finish the 'Cats have seen since the program was restored in 2003-04, done three other times, and most recently in 2018-19.
Crystal Walker had two podium finishes, going second in the Long Jump (5.62m) and second in the 60m Hurdles (8.79). She also took fourth in the Pentathlon (3,265 points), totaling 21 points on the meet. It was the highest individual total, earning her High-Point Athlete of the Meet. She also tied for Field Athlete of the Meet with Victoria Lendal of Parkside.
Overall, the Wildcats accumulated 84.5 points, having 23 different results that accrued points. NMU edged Wayne State's 81 points for third place. Grand Valley State won the meet with 237 points and Saginaw Valley State took second with 108.5 points.
