MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan women's wrestling team hosted its second ever home event on Sunday night, with dual victories over Algoma (29-5) and Lakeland (30-4).
Between the two duals and exhibitions that ensued afterwards,
Zhivanna Magdaleno and
Natasha Kuberski each claimed a pair of victories. Five other Wildcats earned a win on the night:
Ruby Joseph,
Sharon Leon,
Alissa Caltagirone,
Samantha Chaon, and
Mickaela Keane.
Dual vs. Algoma
The Wildcats defeated Algoma by a 29-5 score. Four forfeits took place at 130, 136, 143, and 155, awarding Northern 20 points.
In the first matchup of the night,
Zhivanna Magdaleno won via Tech Fall (10-0 1:57) in the 123 class to earn four points for the Green and Gold.
Ruby Joseph claimed another victory at 170, winning by Fall (4:32) for five points. Algoma earned five points at 191, also winning by Fall (3:45).
Dual vs. Lakeland
Northern defeated Lakeland 30-4. Four forfeits took place at 123, 130, 143, and 170, and 191, scoring 25 points for the Wildcats.
At 136,
Sharon Leon earned five points by victory via Fall (3:31). Lakeland earned four points in the dual at 155 winning by Tech Fall (10-0 4:46).
Exhibition Matches
Natasha Kuberski added two victories in exhibitions at 225, winning the first by Decision (13-6) and the second by Fall (5:51).
Zhivanna Magdaleno added her second win by Fall (0:58) at 123.
Alissa Caltagirone claimed a victory by Fall (5:27) in the 143 class.
Samantha Chaon was victorious in the 130, winning by Fall (1:14).
Mickaela Keane won by Fall (4:07) in the 191 class.
