MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan women's basketball team is gearing up to hit the road for a single game this weekend for an exciting non-conference clash against the Quincy University Hawks.
The Wildcats will look to carry over the momentum they created last weekend into the weekend, as they'll clash with the Hawks on Sunday, December 17, at 3 p.m. at Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The neutral site game will take place at the JustAgame Fieldhouse.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats had a pair of in conference matchups last weekend between Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State, where they were victorious in each.
Against the Warriors in the conference opener, NMU commanded the game, defeating the Warriors 81-66. The Cats' were led by
Makaylee Kuhn with 30,
Mackenzie Holzwart added 17, and
Kayla Tierney chipped in 14. All three marks were season-highs. Kuhn also hauled in 11 rebounds on the night to record her fourth double-double of the season. NMU shot 31-60 (51.7%) while Wayne struggled from the floor, shooting 22-64 (34.4%). The 'Cats dominated the glass with a 42-28 margin, with a 34-21 clearance on the defensive end.
Against the Cardinals, NMU triumphed 65-41.
Sarah Newcomer scored a career-high 23 points. Newcomer shot an imposing 9-12 (75.0%) from the field and 5-7 (71.4%) from deep. The Wildcats held SVSU to just 12-47 (25.5%) shooting on the night, as they shot 22-50 (44.0%) from the field themselves and 8-16 (50.0%) from downtown.

- Northern leads the GLIAC in fewest turnovers/game (12.4) and is third in the GLIAC in FT percentage (76.6%). The Wildcats are averaging 5.5 more rebounds a contest than their opponents. As a team, NMU is shooting 37.9% from the floor and 33.8% from three.
- The Wildcats are currently second in the GLIAC in FT made per game (13.5), and FT attempts per game (17.6).
- Makaylee Kuhn leads the conference averaging 17.3 ppg and is fifth at 7.2 rpg. Kuhn is 51-60 (85.0%) from the free throw line this season, eighth in the GLIAC.
- Kuhn currently has 1,626 career points. That mark is 73 points off of the all-time NMU lead (1,699 points - Lisa Jamula). Kuhn is a three-time All-GLIAC First Teamer and was named to the Preseason First Team.
- Mackenzie Holzwart was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on November 20. She is averaging 8.0 ppg, 3.6 apg, and 5.9 rpg. Holzwart also leads the team with 14 steals on the season.
- The Green and Gold present a balanced offensive attack, as eight different 'Cats have scored at least nine points in a game so far this season.
Notes on Quincy
The Hawks enter the matchup on a two-game losing streak. Quincy is 3-3 in the GLVC, and 4-7 overall. QU is 3-0 away from their home court, but have given up over 60 points per game (65.7) this season while scoring 62.7 ppg themselves.
The Hawks shoot 35.6% from the field and 24.4% from three. The Hawks are led by junior forward Cymirah Williams who is averaging 11.6 ppg on 46.2% shooting while averaging 8.4 rpg. Sophomore forward Acheampomaa Danso is right behind at 10.3 ppg, while shooting 55.4% from the field and bringing down 9.3 rpg.
The last time these programs met was in 2016 in the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge, where the Cats' were victorious 59-46.
