MARQUETTE, Mich. - Winners of five straight, the Wildcats return to GLIAC hoops this week with a pair of road contests at Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State.
On Thursday, January 5, the Northern will be in Detroit for a 7:30 p.m. start against the Warriors of Wayne State. NMU will then head north to Saginaw on Saturday, January 7 for a 3 p.m. bout with the SVSU Cardinals.

Without its top two scorers in
Max Bjorklund and
Brian Parzych, four freshmen eclipsed double figures to lead the way in a wire-to-wire 81-52 victory at Northwood on Monday.
Max Weisbrod led the way with 21 points on 8-10 shooting including a 5-6 mark from downtown. He added six assists and four rebounds.
Dylan Kuehl chipped in 16 points and
Najashi Tolefree posted a career-best 15 points.
Jackson Dudek added 13 off the bench along with seven rebounds.
A Look at the Wildcats
The Wildcats are off to an 11-3 (3-1 GLIAC) start to the season and currently sit second in the conference standings. Northern is averaging 85.4 points/game while holding opponents to 72.3.
NMU is led by
Max Bjorklund, scoring 20.2 a contest, the best mark in the GLIAC.
Brian Parzych is second in scoring at 14.8 ppg. Freshmen
Dylan Kuehl (12.3) and
Max Weisbrod (10.1) are also averaging double figures.
A Look at Wayne State
The Warriors are 4-6 on the season and 1-2 with GLIAC matchups. They average 70.3 ppg while holding opponents to a few ticks below at 67.9.
Carmelo Harris averages 14.6 ppg, Antonio Marshall scores 13.6 ppg, and Avery Lewis marks 12.2 ppg for a trio of Warriors scoring over a dozen a contest.
A Look at Saginaw Valley State
The Cardinals enter the week at 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC. They score at an average of 73.6 ppg.
Tre Garrett paces the Cardinals' attack, scoring at an average of 15.5 a contest while Freddie McIntosh isn't far behind at 14.3 ppg.
