MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Swim and Dive teams take to the PEIF Pool for the first meet of 2023 on Saturday, January 14, to square off against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers. The Wildcats have been off since December 18, 2022, when they took to the CSCAA Open Water Collegiate Nationals, and the last time they competed in an indoor pool was at the Calvin College Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan from December 1-3, 2022.

NMU vs Stevens Point
Last season, the Wildcats traveled to Stevens Point and beat the Pointers 170.5-122.5. The Women took home a win with 204 points, and the men won with a total of 170.5.
Returner
Camilla Carbone set a pool record after she took home the gold in the second 100 Yard Backstroke race, swimming at a time of 58.07. Camilla also assisted her relay team to win the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Six returning women were victorious in their respective events.
Thibault Auger took home gold in three events. He first swam the 200 Yard Medley Relay with
Roberto Camera,
Ryan Lund, and
Ezra Billings. They had a time of 1:34.08 and put 11 points on the board. He proceeded to take first in the 100 Yard backstroke with a time of 53.06. Swimming in the 200 Yard Backstroke, Thibault had a time of 1:57.89 which earned him a victory. Five returning men were victorious in their respective events.
Last Time Out
The Wildcats swim and dive team went down south, where they competed in the CSCAA Open Water National Championships.
The men fared well when they made it into 4th place of 15 teams behind the University of Cincinnati (1st), Northwestern University (2nd), and Villanova University (3rd).

Logan Robillard, and
Thibault Auger fell behind Villanova by .26 when they had a final time of 2:50:02.
The women placed 18th at the event. The Wildcats had an end time of 3:15:20 with their lap times being quite consistent.
Vanessa Steigauf had a time of 1:04:48,
Michaela Nelson with 1:04:57,
Caitlin Aarseth with 1:05:35, and
Meritxell Font Cantarero ended it with a time of 1:05:50.
