NMU Golf Adds Patrick Foppe as Head Coach

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Department of Athletics has named Patrick Foppe as its new head golf coach.

Foppe is PGA Certified in teaching and coaching and earned his degree in Agribusiness with a Concentration in Professional Golf Management from Arizona State University in 2010. He has twelve years of experience teaching and coaching golf and has worked with a handful of collegiate golf programs, the most recent being California University of Pennsylvania.

"Patrick brings extensive expertise in kinesiology and exercise science along with a passion for teaching that will benefit NMU student-athletes," said NMU Director of Athletics Forrest Karr. "His positive communication style will add value to an incredible team of accomplished NMU coaches and he will have the opportunity to benefit from Rick's exceptional leadership. I am very happy for all of the student-athletes on the women's and men's golf teams and look forward to following their continued success!"

Foppe also has a master's degree in Kinesiology from Texas Women's University. He plans on utilizing his kinesiology knowledge to evaluate junior golfers for the program as well as assist with the overall development of the student-athletes at Northern Michigan University.

As a 2020 GRAA Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional and Player Development Award recipient, he effectively teaches players individual skills, team concepts, and competitive
values. He can execute practice sessions, golf course strategy sessions, and competition plans.

NMU Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, former NMU Golf student-athlete, and golf coach search committee member, Caro Tripp, noted, "I am confident Patrick will provide our student-athletes with the tools necessary to unlock their potential and further excel as individuals and as a team. His enthusiasm will provide a sense of community and will greatly benefit our athletes. I look forward to working with him and I can't wait to see where he leads the program."

Foppe added, "I am very grateful and excited to join the Northern Michigan University coaching staff and serve as the head coach for men's and women's golf. I want to thank Forrest, Bridget, and the search committee for the opportunity and I am looking forward to working with incoming AD Rick Comley. The student-athletes' passion aligns with mine and I am excited to coach and support the teams and grow golf within the Marquette community. Go Wildcats!"
