Men's Golf Concludes Opening Tournament of 2026

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The NMU men's golf team wrapped up its opening tournament of 2026, finishing 10th at the Bulldog Fall Classic.

Taking place at the Katke Golf Course on the campus of Ferris State, teams played three rounds of stroke play. The first two rounds were held on Monday, with the third and final round concluding today.

NMU shot a three-round total of +96, shooting team scores of +38 and +23 on Monday, and a +35 on Tuesday.

The Katke Golf Club, which played as a 6,971-yard par 71, posted an average score of 76.02 through 180 rounds of golf turned in. Host university Ferris State claimed the team title on its home course with a score of +12, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Roosevelt, and 16 strokes ahead of the host's 'B' team at +28.

Jacob Daavettila led the way for the Green and Gold, turning in a three-round total of +19 thanks to rounds of +7 (78), +4 (75), and +8 (79). Over the three rounds, Daavettila recorded 30 pars and four birdies, with three of those circles coming during his second-round 75 on Monday evening.

The trio of Levi Pennala (+25), Easton Aho (+27), and Maximos Faulkner (+27) rounded out the top four scorers, and Harvey Ylitalo rounded out the 'Cats in the field at +36.
