MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team returns to the Berry Events Center for a short three game homestand.
NMU continues Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this week against Wayne State University on Thursday (Feb. 17) at 5:30 p.m., Saginaw Valley State University (Feb. 19) at 1 p.m. and the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Sunday (Feb. 20) at 3 p.m.

SENIOR DAY ON SATURDAY
Northern Michigan University Athletics will honor the seniors from both the men's and women's basketball programs in between the two games on Saturday. Nick Wagner and John Kerr will be honored for the men while
Elizabeth Lutz and
Lexi Smith will be honored for the women's program.
LAST TIME OUT
Emily Mueller was dominant along the glass, pulling down a team high eight rebounds against the Cardinals in Northern's last matchup.
Sophomore
Makaylee Kuhn was unstoppable in the Wildcats latest matchup, scoring 25 points in 31 minutes of play. Kuhn shot 57-percent from the field, and 100-percent from the free throw line.
NMU shot 81.8-percent from the free throw line in their last matchup, accounting for nine points throughout the match.
STAT LEADERS
Sophomore guard
Makaylee Kuhn finds herself among some of the best in the conference, ranking in the top five in two major statistical categories. Kuhn ranks third in field-goal percentage with 45.4-percent and forth in points per game with 15.8.
Ana Rhude continues to be a force defensively, ranking in the top three in two statistical categories for the GLIAC. Rhude ranks second in blocked shots with 30, and third in blocked shots per game with 1.36.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Wayne State University sits at 10-5 in conference play and 14-6 overall. The Warriors come into the matchup ranked as one of the best teams defensively, ranking second in the nation in defensive rebounds per game with 31.1. Sam Cherney ranks sixth in the nation for NCAA Division II for blocked shots per game, averaging 2.95.
Saginaw Valley State University comes into the matchup at 6-8 in conference play and 13-8 overall. The Cardinals are led by junior Kaitlyn Zarycki, who leads in several statistical categories in the GLIAC, most notably in field-goal percentage, knocking down 54.2-percent of her shots.
University of Wisconsin-Parkside currently sits at 10-6 in conference play and 13-11 overall before making their trip to the Upper Peninsula. Parkside makes the most of their opportunities at the free throw line, knocking down 80.3-percent of their chances. Alyssa Nelson powers the Rangers, averaging 21.2 points per game.

NMU vs Wayne State (Mich.)
Northern looks to split the season series with the Warriors, dropping a matchup earlier this year by a score of 71-56.
Freshman
Vivianne Jende helped propel the Wildcats throughout the match, grabbing 12 points in 25 minutes of play.
NMU vs Saginaw Valley
NMU and SVSU matched up only a week ago in Saginaw, Mich. where the Wildcats came out on top by a score of 59-39.
Sophomore
Makaylee Kuhn led the way for Northern, shooting 57-percent from the field and grabbing a hold of 13 points.
NMU vs UW-Parkside
Northern dropped a tough one against the Rangers in their earlier matchup this season, dropping the game by a score of 73-52.
Freshman
Kayla Tierney found herself leading the way for Northern, shooting 50-percent from the field and scoring 12 points.
A LOOK AHEAD
Northern hits the road for two more matchups against two tough opponents, starting the road trip out first is Lake Superior State University (Feb. 24) at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats will finish out the regular season down in Big Rapids, Mich. against Ferris State University (Feb. 26) at 1 p.m.
