MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team has finished the initial portion of the non-conference schedule and will hit the road for their first two GLIAC matchups of the season.
The team will travel to Hammond, Indiana for a matchup on Friday against the Purdue Northwest Pride at 6 p.m. They will finish the road trip against the Parkside Rangers on Saturday with tip-off at 2 p.m.

A Look at the Wildcats
The Wildcats are off to a 4-3 start, and are looking to snap a current two game losing streak, and a two game losing streak to the Pride. The Wildcats are coming off losses to Minnestota Duluth, and St. Cloud State last weekend.
Makaylee Kuhn is off to a strong start on the year, averaging 13.7 ppg, and 6.7 rpg, which are both team leads. Kuhn also leads the Wildcats in total assists with 22. In her first year with the program,
Abi Fraaza has been a solid contributor off the bench for the Wildcats. Fraaza is averaging 9.3 ppg, which is second on the team, she is also averaging 5.3 rpg, which is good for third on the team.
Mackenzie Holzwart is averaging 9.1 ppg, which is third on the Wildcats and is second on the team with 15 assists.

A Look at the Purdue Northwest Pride
The Pride are off to a 4-3 start. The Pride are led by Tadriana Heard who is averaging 19.3 ppg, while averaging 4.4 rpg. Dash Shaw is second in scoring with 15.3 ppg, while adding 5.0 rpg. Mercedes Simmons is adding 9.9 ppg, and 5.1 rpg. The Pride are averaging 70.6 ppg so far this year. The Pride have won two close matchups against the Wildcats, a 59-56 win in January, and a 53-52 win in February.
A Look at the Parkside Rangers
The Rangers are off to a 2-4 start, coming off a close loss to #11 Minnesota State. The Rangers are led by Alyssa Nelson, who is off to a tremendous start, averaging 21.8 ppg, while adding 5.5 rpg. Nelson is also shooting 44% from the field, and 80% from the free throw line. Paty Gallasova is averaging 10.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and leads the team with 29 assists. Kayla Bohr is averaging 9.2 ppg, and is second on the team with 18 assists. The Rangers split the season series with the Wildcats last year, with a win over the Wildcats in Kenosha, and a loss in Marquette.
