MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team looks to close out January strong with two tough matchups.
NMU continues Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this week against Northwood University on Saturday (Jan. 29) at 11 a.m. and Michigan Technological University on Monday (Jan. 31) at 5:30 p.m.

Vivianne Jende looked great in the paint for Northern in their latest matchup, notching seven points and bringing down four rebounds to boot.
Sophomore
Makaylee Kuhn has been an unstoppable force this season, knocking down 47-percent of her shots and accounting for just under half of NMU's points against Grand Valley State University.
Mackenzie Holzwart saw a handful of minutes against GVSU, dishing out four assists in 27 minutes of play.
STAT LEADERS
Sophomore guard
Makaylee Kuhn continues to find herself among the best through several statistical categories, while also ranking in the top five in a majority of GLIAC statistics, most notably in points per game, with an average of 16.5. Kuhn also ranks fourth in the GLIAC, making 45.5 percent of her field goals.
Ana Rhude finds herself towards the top of the conference , recording a total of 21 blocked shots in 149 minutes of play this season. Rhude finds herself within the top five in two GLIAC categories: second in blocked shots with 21 and third in blocked shots per game with an average of 1.4.
Northern ranks 22nd in the nation in rebounding margin for NCAA Division II, pulling down an average of 8.5 more boards per game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Northwood is 5-5 in the GLIAC and 11-6 overall. Mackenzie Todd leads the Timberwolves with 14.6 points a game. Todd leads the GLIAC in three-point field goals attempted, and ranks third in three point field goals made.
Michigan Tech is 6-2 in conference play and 11-5 overall. The Huskies come into the matchup with one of the best field-goal percentages in the nation, putting down 46.7-percent of their shots. MTU is led by Ellie Mackay, who is averaging 18.2 points per game.

NMU vs. Northwood
Northern has the one up on the Timberwolves, beating them earlier this season by a score of 77-69.
Freshman
Kayla Tierney put on a show against NU earlier this season, shooting 55-percent from behind the arc for a game total of 15 points.
NMU vs. Michigan Tech
NMU and MTU have a storied history of matchups, with the Huskies edging out the Wildcats in their latest match. Tip-off will mark the 105th game between the two programs.
Junior
Emily Mueller will look to control the paint defensively, leading the 'Cats in blocks in their latest matchup with the Huskies.
MAKEUP GAMES ANNOUNCED
Northern Michigan women's basketball has announced a pair of makeup dates from earlier postponements this season. The Wildcats will play at Saginaw Valley State on February 14 at 2 p.m. NMU will also makeup a home contest against Parkside on February 20 at 3 p.m.
