MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team (2-7-2, 2-5-1 GLIAC) pulled within one score late against Northwood University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match but ultimately fell 2-1.

FIRST HALF
|
In the first half, the offensive output was similar for both teams as the Wildcats had six shots to the Timberwolves' seven.
When it came to shots on goal in the first 45, both teams were even at 1-1. Ryan Palmbaum took the attempt on target for the 'Cats.
NMU won the possession battle in the half with the ball in their control 52-percent of the time.
An early NU goal had the score 1-0 in favor of the visitors at halftime.

SECOND HALF

The Timberwolves found the back of the net again in the 55th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
It was not over for the Wildcats as they would put a goal on the board in the 82nd minute of action.
Brady Kronenburg battled a Northwood defender on the far left side of the field and drove into the box.
He passed the ball to his right to a waiting Palmbaum who sent the ball into the lower left of the net for an NMU goal.
The 2-1 score held the rest of the match and the Timberwolves picked up the GLIAC win.

STAT LEADERS

As a team, the Wildcats outshot the opposition 18-10 overall and 7-3 in shots on goal. The NMU team also led in possession in the match with the ball remaining with them for 59-percent of the action.
Brady Kronenburg led the team with six total shots while also contributing two shots on target.
Ryan Palmbaum was next with five total shots and a match-leading three shots on goal. His goal for the Wildcats was his second of the year.
Cian Tunney, Kaffie Kurz, Emanuele Ancione, Isaac Ward, and Keegan Schmidt all also took at least one shot on goal. Tunney and Ancione each had one shot on target in the match.
Alex Weaver was the starting goalkeeper for the Wildcats and played all 90 minutes. He collected a save while in net.
