MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Wildcat men's basketball team returns to action this Thursday and Saturday with trips down state to Davenport and Grand Valley State, January 23 and 25.
The team is coming off a weekend split at the Berry Events Center following a close loss to Ferris State and a convincing victory over the Lakers of Lake Superior State.

LAST TIME OUT

After dropping one to Ferris State, 61-48, Thursday night, the Wildcats bounced back for the weekend split with a 65-40 victory over Lake Superior State.
Troy Summers nearly matched his career high 21 points on Thursday, leading the team in points with 20 while Myles Howard picked up 10 rebounds and eight points.
The team then held their opponent in Lake Superior State to 40 points which was the lowest point total allowed by the Wildcats since the 2001-02 season against Shippensburg (60-40).
Sam Taylor led the team with 18 points while Myles Howard picked up another 12 blocks for 22 on the weekend.

GETTING CLOSER TO A RECORD

Myles Howard added five blocks this weekend, including four in Saturday's victory over LSSU pulling him within 12 blocks of the school record and brings his stellar career block total to 201.

NMU VERSUS DAVENPORT
|
In six games all-time, the Wildcats lead the Panthers 4-2, including 1-2 last season. The men picked up a 77-63 victory last year at home against Davenport before dropping a tight game on their home court, 74-71 late in the season. The two teams met again in the post season tournament, with Davenport earning the 88-77 victory to advance to the GLIAC Championship game.

NMU VERSUS GRAND VALLEY
|
The Wildcats and Lakers have met a total of 83 times with GVSU holding the 50-33 edge over NMU. The two teams split their regular season series last year, with both teams taking the win on their home court. Last January, the Wildcats earned the 70-61 victory over the Lakers before falling in February, 85-62.
