Wildcats Fall in Overtime to Walsh, 2-1

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — The Northern Michigan women's soccer team fell to Walsh in double overtime, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Milazzo Field in front of 83 fans.

Sophia Sachs got the Wildcats on the board in the 61st minute of the match, but the Cavaliers did not waste time in answering with a goal of their own as Jessie Gearhart found Kristen Conti in the 62nd minute to even the score.

The match ended in the second frame of overtime when Jessie Gearhart connected with Corynne Swift in the 101st minute to score the winner for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers outshot the Wildcats, 14-13, while the Wildcats held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Michaella Stucky recorded four saves for the Cavaliers and Caroline Glantz recorded eight saves of her own in a losing effort for the Wildcats.

With the loss, Northern Michigan falls to 0-7 (0-3 GLIAC) on the season. The Wildcats return home Friday as they take on Malone at 4 p.m.
