NMU Men's Basketball Falls to Indianapolis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Northern Michigan University (0-2, 0-0 GLIAC) fell by a final of 88-51 to the Indianapolis Greyhounds to close out the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge.  The Wildcats shot 19-52 (36.5%) from the field, while Indianapolis went 33-57 (57.9%) including 12-22 (54.5%) from beyond the arc.

NMU was able to take an early 6-2 lead after a made layup from senior forward Chavis Mattison.  Indianapolis was then able to go on an extended run to eventually take a 48-21 lead at half time. 

Joe Lawson of Indianapolis led all scorers with 14 points, while Mattison paced the Wildcats with six points. 

Indianapolis maintained its lead in the second half as they continued to shoot well.  The Wildcats finished the game strogn going on a 13-4 run to close out the game.  The final horn sounded with an 88-51 final.

The Wildcats were able to pull down 14 offensive rebounds led by junior guard Terry Nash who had five offensive boards.

The NMU offense was spread out as Nash, freshman guard Jordan Perez and senior guard Larry Taylor each scored nine points to lead NMU.

 

The Wildcats return to action Wednesday, Nov. 19 when they host Finlandia in their home opener at 7:30 p.m.
