Women's Golf Moves Up Three Spots in Final Round of NC4K Classic

GROVE CITY, Ohio - The NMU golf team completed its final regular season tournament today, finishing the final half of the second round this afternoon.

After playing anywhere from 25 to 27 of golf yesterday, the 'Cats completed round two of the ODU NC4K Classic today, moving up three spots to 13th overall with a two-day score of +126.

No. 40 Ferris State took home the team title at +32, followed by No. 9 Grand Valley at +42, and Gannon in third at +50.

Maddy Martens had the best two-day score for the 'Cats, finishing in 42nd overall with her two-day score of +24. Martens, who started on hole 12 and finished on hole two today, shot +5 in those nine holes, including a birdie on the par-four first. Maddy posted at +12 in round two, the second-best team score and moving up five positions.

The second-best 'Cat on the tournament was Maggie Pietila, who finished 48th overall with her two-day total of +26. Maggie started on hole 13 and finished on hole three today, shooting +7 in those final holes. On round two as a whole, Maggie shave six strokes off her round one total, moving up 17 positions after round one.

In third was Hailey Bolander, who finished her tournament at +29, sitting 55th overall. Like Maggie, Bolander started on 13 and ended on three, and would complete her second round at +19. One stroke behind Bolander and completing the team scoring was Abbie Pietila, who shot a combined second-round 92 (+20) after completing her nine holes.

Both Payton Dube and Gabriella Moreau started on hole ten and would finish on hole two today, needing 11 holes to complete their respective rounds, and would finish fifth and sixth on the team and 93rd and 94th, respectively. Abby Luke, who competed as an individual, had 10 holes to complete her round, as she moved up six places to finish 89th on the tournament.

The 'Cats are now off until the GLIAC Championship, which takes place at Stonehedge North in Augusta, Michigan on Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27.
