Women's Golf Conclude Flyer Fall Intercollegiate

LEMONT, Ill. - The NMU women's golf team wrapped up its penultimate tournament of the 25/26 fall season today, finishing eighth at the Flyer Fall Intercollegiate.

The 'Cats finished the tournament in eighth of nine teams, finishing with a three round total of 1,007 (+143). Host Lewis (+49) and GLIAC foe Davenport (+63) cleared the rest of the field comfortably, as conference team Parkside (+113) finished third.

Maddy Martens added a top-20 finish to her resume, finishing 17th as an individual with her three-round total of +27. After opening her third round by shooting +7 in her first six holes, Martens finished strong, recording a five-hole stretch where she shot -2 with birdies on the par-three seventh and par-four 10th. Martens would card a triple-bogey on her final hole, giving her a round of +11 in the final 18-holes. Martens' 5.00 scoring average on the par-fives was good enough for T4 on the field, her five birdies was good for T8, and her 27 pars was T12.

Matching Martens for the team's best score in the third round, Payton Donnelly finished second on the team and T23 overall with her three-round total of +31. Donnelly carded her fourth birdie of the tournament today, coming on the par-four 16th. Just missing the top-25 and right behind Donnelly was Abbie Pietila, who finished the three-round tournament at T27 with a score of +35. Pietila carded a score of +15 in round three, with a lone birdie on the par-four 17th.

Aavra Relich rounded out the team scoring, finishing at T41 with her score of +50. Relich shot her best round in the final round, including adding her lone birdie of the tournament on the par-four ninth. Olivia Brill rounded out the field, shooting +23 in all three rounds to finish at +69.

The Ravines saw the highest score average of all three rounds today, with the field turning in average scores of 83.62 in round three for a three-round average of 82.79 in 145 rounds completed. Lewis and Davenport combined for all of the top six spots, led by Lewis' Sophia Lawler (+7) and Kendall Farm (+9), followed by Davenport's Venetia Chap (+10).
