MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU lacrosse team is on the road to Allendale, Michigan, competing in the GLIAC championship this weekend.
Running from Friday, May 2, to Sunday, May 4, the No. 3 Wildcats (10-7, 4-4 GLIAC) will square off against the No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears (9-7, 5-3) for the third-consecutive time in the first round of the GLIAC championships.
The Wildcats play the Golden Bears at 7 PM on Friday, May 2, from the host campus of Grand Valley State at the GVSU Lacrosse/Track & Field Stadium. The No. 1 Lakers (13-3, 8-0 GLIAC) play the No. 4 Davenport Panthers (9-7, 3-5 GLIAC) just before at 4 PM. The winners of each match up will play each other for the conference postseason title at noon ET on Sunday, May 4.
The 'Cats will meet the Golden Bears for the third-straight time in the first round of the post season, and the second-consecutive instance where the Wildcats ended the regular season and opened the playoffs against CSP. NMU is 10-2 against the Golden Bears going back to 2021 and are 2-0 against CSP in the GLIAC tournament.
NMU split the regular season series against CSP, losing in St. Paul before winning at home to close out the regular season.
Josie Lakosky has seven goals and eight points in two games against CSP this season, and the Wildcats blanked Susie Monson at home after she scored five goals and an assist in St. Paul earlier in the year.
