Men's Swim earn Handful of All-American's at NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NMU men's swim and dive team wrapped up competition from day three of the 2025 NCAA National Championships, laying claim to a handful of All-Americans.

Tobie Stiles finished 16th in the nation and earned a second team All-America honor in the 3-meter diving with his finals score of 438.55. Stiles made it through the prelims into the consolation finals at 14th with a score of 432.55.

Daniel Lopez Aponte competed in the 400 IM, finishing third in the consolation final and 11th overall with his time of 3:53.08, earning him a second team All-America honor. Lopez Aponte qualified for the consolation finals after finishing fifth in his heat and 13th overall with a prelim time of 3:45.91. 

The 'Cats ended the evening with the 400 medley relay team of Ian Rocheleau, Wyatt Dickman, William LaCount, and Leo Nolles, finishing sixth in the penultimate heat and 13th overall with their time of 3:12.57, earning them a second team All-America honor. In their heat, the 'Cats were 8th after the first exchange (Rocheleau, Back, 49.20), 6th after the second exchange (Dickman, Breast, 52.78), 8th into the final leg (LaCount, Fly, 48.48), before moving back to sixth after the anchor (Nolles, Free, 42.11).

Morning Session/ Prelims
Lopez Aponte opened the 'Cats in competition, swimming in the third heat of the 400 IM prelims. Lopez Aponte posted a qualifying time of 3:45.91, finishing fifth in his heat and 13th overall to qualify for the consolation finals. Lopez Aponte posted splits of 53.12 (100 fly), 1:01.36 (100 back), 1:05.32 (100 breast), and 55.11 (100 free). 

Dickman was the next to compete in the morning, competing in heat three of the 200 freestyle prelims. Dickman swam to third in his heat with a time of 1:38.23, finishing 11th with two heats to go. After 16 more athletes, Dickman would slide to 27th, missing the mark to compete in the evening. 

In the 3-meter diving prelims, Stiles made it through to the consolation finals with his score of 432.55, finishing 14th. Benaiah Schnurstein rounded out the field with his score of 403.75, missing the cut to advance, but finishing 18th in the nation. 


Evening Session/ Finals
In the consolation finals, Stiles would post a score of 438.55 to finish 16th and earn a second team All-America honor in the 3-meter dive. 

In the 400 IM consolation finals, Lopez-Aponte finished third with his time of 3:53.08, posting splits of 52.33 (100 fly), 1:01.05 (100 back), 1:05.28 (100 breast), and 54.42 (100 free) and earning himself a second team All-America honor with his 11th overall finish. 

In their heat, the 'Cats 400 medley relay team was 8th after the first exchange (Rocheleau, Back, 49.20), 6th after the second exchange (Dickman, Breast, 52.78), 8th into the final leg (LaCount, Fly, 48.48), before moving back to sixth after the anchor (Nolles, Free, 42.11).

  • 10 AM: 100 Freestyle Prelims - Nolles (1st) and LaCount (34th)
  • 10 AM: 200 Breaststroke Prelims - Dickman (10th)
  • 10 AM: Prelims for 1-Meter Diving
  • 6:10 PM: Finals for 100 Free / 200 Breast (if advanced from prelims)
  • 7:45 PM: 400 Freestyle Relay Timed Finals - LaCount, Fulconi, Khmara, Nolles (5th)
