Black and Jacobson Earn Bronze at the Valamar Cup in Croatia

POREC, Croatia - A pair of Northern Michigan Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestlers, Max Black and Payton Jacobson, both competed in Porec, Croatia at the Valamar Cup this past weekend. 

Both Black and Jacobson took the Bronze medal in their weight classes.

Max Black (60 KG)
Black started the competition off with a win over 2024 Olympic Trials Champion and NMU alumni Dalton Roberts. He then fell to reigning U23 world champion Giorgi Tokhadze (GEO).

Payton Jacobson (87 KG)
Jacobson started off with a narrow defeat  to Tokyo Olympian Ivan Huklek (CRO) before bouncing back with a victory over U23 World Champion Exauce Mukubi (NOR) for bronze.

Both wrestlers will spend this next week training with multiple countries in Porec, Croatia.
