COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Northern Michigan University Women's golf team completed their first tournament of the season at the ODC Womens Classic, finishing the event in 13th among the 15 teams.
The 36-hole tournament was played over two days at the Champions Golf Course, featuring a par of 70. The course measures 6,536 yards from the back tees and has a rating of 70.8 with a slope of 125.

How it Happened
Round one
- Maggie Pietila delivered a golf shot that will be remembered for years to come. On hole two, Pietila hit a hole-in-one; a feat that hasn't been accomplished since September 16th, 2018, the exact day six years ago today, when Haley Hewer last made this remarkable shot.
- Abbie Pietila led the way for the team with an impressive round of 79 (+9). Pietila hit a key birdie on the 6th hole and a steady display of consistency with 8 pars throughout the 18 holes.
- Maddy Martens carded a score of 82 (+12), highlighted by 10 pars and a birdie on the 17th hole that shaped her final score.
- Hailey Bolander shot an 85 (+15), completing the Cats' scoring lineup and placing T55 individually, followed by Payton Dube 93 (+23) in T82 and Payton Donnelly in T88 with a score of 95 (+25).
Round two
- Abbie Pietila shot a score of 84(+14), including two birdies, and finished T39 as an individual on the leaderboard. The freshman led the Wildcats in performance on both days.
- Maggie Pietila came to play, scoring pars on seven out of the front nine holes finishing with a total of 11 pars for the round. Pietila closes out round two with a score of 81 (+11), totaling +25 for the tournament and finishing T47.
- Hailey Bolander finished her round with a score of 82, which placed her at +12 over par and tied her for 53rd position with her overall score of +27.
- Maddy Martens recorded two birdies during her round, finishing with a score of 86 and +16 over par. She ended the day tied for 56th place and fourth on the team
- Payton Donnelly carded a score of 87 (+17) and in T85.
- Payton Dube rounded out the 'Cats, shooting 96 (+26) for a two-day total of +49

The Cats' will continue on next week with another 36-hole event in Washington, MI, at Warrior Invitational. Round one will begin on Monday, September 23, and the second and final round will wrap up on Tuesday, September 24.
