MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU men's and women's swim and dive team competed in the GLIAC Championships over the weekend, claiming five top podium spots through four days of competition.
The 'Cats claimed second overall with a combined team score of 1343.5. The women's team stacked up 726 points and landed third while the men's team gathered 617.5 and posted second.

On the women's side, three total gold medals were won throughout the conference.
Camilla Carbone,
Zoe DeKievit,
Meritxell Font Cantarero, and
Becca Burrows were top of the podium for the 200-yard Medley Relay, and Carbone was also able to earn another gold medal for the 100-yard Backstroke as well as a DII B-cut. The third one to get the gold was Dekievit with her performance in the 100-yard Breaststroke and gathered her own DII B-cut.

On the men's side, there were only two gold medals earned throughout the four days with the first going to
Leo Nolles in the 50-yard Freestyle. Along with Nolles' accomplishment in that event, he also broke a team record for his time of 19.62. The other gold medalist was
Daniel Lopez Aponte who earned a DII B-cut for his work in the 400-yard IM.
