MIAMI, FL. - Five members of the NMU men's and women's swim team traveled down to Miami, Florida over the weekend to compete in the 2024 CSCAA Collegiate National Open Water Championship.
There were nearly 240 participants from institutions across the nation, including NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA to compete in the 5K in the Oleta River on the campus of Florida International University.
On the men's side,
Wyatt Dickman finished 11th among division 2 athletes and 51st among all collegiate athletes, posting a time of 1:07:57.71. No swimmer was able to crack the hour mark, as the first athlete to cross the finish was Ben Wainman of Saginaw Valley State with his time of 1:00:41.97.
Next was
Zachary Billotte with a time of 1:08:43.31, finishing 14th among D2 athletes and 54th overall. Right behind him was Javier Pena Reyes, 15th among D2 athletes and 58th overall with his time of 1:09:05.82.
Two represented the women's team, those being
Anika Wright and
Caitlin Aarseth. Wright finished fourth among all D2 athletes and 35th overall with her finish time of 1:05:02.58, followed by teammate Aarseth with her time of 1:09:39.77 to finish 9th amonf division two competitors and 81st overall.
